About Us

We are a 'community church' offering help and support in the Newton Heath area; the main concern of the church is to present the good news about Jesus and provide practical service to the local community where we can.  Heathfield Church is a member of the ‘Evangelical Alliance’ and seeks to maintain a positive relationship with other local churches and attempts to engage with other community organisations in practical social action. The church is currently lead by four Deacons and has a facility for Elders and a full time Pastor when resources permit. The Bible is central to our life and activities.

Our History

Heathfield Church has its origins with Manchester City Mission with a legacy of an unbroken presence in the community dating back to 1887, then, as Central Hall Barker Street Mission, later becoming Barkworth Street Mission. In 1976 Barkworth Street Mission amalgamated with Welcome Mission, Queensferry St Mission and Shaftesbury Chapel to become Heathfield Church in its present building.  In 1985 Heathfield Church was considered to have 'reached maturity’ by Manchester City Mission to be released as an Independent Evangelical Church.
